THE FIRST OF OUR HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDES

THE FIRST OF OUR HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDES

Carol Vargo of Gray Antiques
The first of our Holiday Gift Guides is from Carol Vargo of Gray Antiques and Interiors. Carol was a natural choice because she has exquisite taste and a lovely antiques shop where she offers beautiful, unique finds. My dining room table, blue and white porcelain lamps and vintage Tiffany & Co. playing cards were spotted on her site and I knew immediately that I had to have them.

From Carol: We love to give and receive art.  A piece of art is unique, timeless and a truly thoughtful gift that will be long remembered.  We now carry works from abstract expressionist painter Katie Ré Scheidt of Roxbury, Connecticut. We especially love this piece Casablanca I, acrylic and goauche on canvas, 12 x 12 inches.  ($600)
Vintage silver barware is a superb gift  for the entertainer, whether it be for someone who is furnishing their first apartment or the veteran host who appreciates that perfect vintage piece to add to their collection.  We carry a wide array of vintage silver barware, including several pieces of vintage Christofle found on our recent visit to the flea markets of Provence.  Pieces  shown here range in price from $20 to $225.
Speaking of French chic, we love these vintage Hermès knotting cards.  Endlessly inspiring. One of our favorite clients is giving her high school and college aged daughters vintage Hermès scarves for Christmas and the knotting cards are the perfect finishing touch.  $45 each.
For those who appreciate the hand made, these pieces of pottery by French artisan Timotheé Humbert are a fresh take on traditional blue and white.  Prices range from $150 to $425.
For the Interiors obsessed, may we suggest this fabulously chic Maison Jansen side table in the form of a lyre with a tooled leather top ($1950) to enjoy while lounging with our French linen and velvet pillows in a range of vibrant hues ($150 square, $125 rectangle) and a vintage Tiffany crystal water carafe and tumbler ($75).
