The weather in New York has been freezing cold this week as I've been working on Fall 2015. The snow on the ground hasn't yet melted which makes the park such a beautiful place to visit to get inspired and feel creative.
This week on Wynne's World, we meet my beautiful friend Ann Caruso. Ann is a top celebrity stylist and one of my favorite shopping companions. She is always good company, has a great eye and finds the chicest items. Her look is consistently polished, elegant and classic. Here she shares with us her favorite picks for the holiday season. (More information on Ann can be found on anncaruso.com)
HOLIDAY STYLE: For day, I'm always wearing my Heidi Wynne cashmere wraps. (Ann has the Isabelle Wrap in Navy, Black and Dark Camel and the Bella Wrap in Black) Loving my Common Projects silver sneakers that add a little flash with jeans, a button down shirt, and a cashmere sweater. Dior Tribales or Mise en Dior earrings to dress up any outfit. For evening I plan on wearing outfits like a Dolce & Gabbana lace pants with a matching black cardigan with diamanté buttons.
HOLIDAY PLANS: Visiting all of the Holiday Windows at Harry Winston, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Tiffany & Co., Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Also, visiting St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which is one of the most beautiful places in New York City. It’s all about family and friends over the holidays and getting rejuvenated for the next year. I will spend time with my family and spend a few days at a spa retreat.
Harry Winston, The Manger at Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Bergdorf Goodman
HOLIDAY GIFTS: Books include Richard Mishaan’s Modern Luxury and Assouline’s Valentino: At the Emperor’s Table. Linnea’s Lights Soy Candles make a nice holiday gift as well as Heidi Wynne's Cashmere Wraps.
HOLIDAY CHARITY: You Can Thrive. You Can Thrive has effectively addressed the need for free and low-cost preventative support services and long- term survivorship tools for breast cancer survivors. More information can be found here: Youcanthrive.org
This week on Wynne's World, the designer shares her favorite picks for holiday style and holiday gifts.
HOLIDAY STYLE: During the holiday season, I wear the Isabelle wrap in a bold, festive color like cherry red or bright plum. For day, I pair the cherry red Isabelle with my Alexandra Crewneck in Heather Grey and my J Brand black leather pants. For holiday parties I either wear a little black dress by Narciso Rodriguez (pictured above) or if it is very chilly I wear my long, cozy Alessandra Cashmere Sweater Dress (currently sold out).
HOLIDAY BEAUTY: Lately I’ve been into natural products and my skin is responding well. Tracie Martyn's Enzyme Exfoliant is incredible as it tightens pores and leaves my skin glowing. For day I wear Double Rose Rejuvenating Cream from The Organic Pharmacy in the West Village. It is lightweight yet hydrating. Indie Lee’s lavender chamomile moisturizing oil is wonderful for dry winter skin.
For holiday parties I either do a smoky eye with a pale lip or a red lip with bone shadow. Tom Ford's Eyeshadow Quad in Titanium Smoke is a holiday favorite with Dior Lip Addict in Beige Casual 222. For a red lip I use Nars Audacious Lipstick in Rita, a Scarlet Red, with Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow in Bone 01.
HOLIDAY DECORATING: This year I will pick up a holiday wreath from Gracious Home and a small tree which will be decorated with ornaments from Bergdorf Goodman and Gracious Home. I light a scented holiday candle from Nest, also available at Gracious Home.
HOLIDAY ENTERTAINING: This is my favorite time of year for hosting dinner parties. I serve fresh bread from Maison Kaysor or Agata & Valentina and an arugula salad with cranberries and walnuts, a white bean puree with thyme, garlic and olive oil, fresh bucatini cacio e pepe or roast chicken with rosemary. Dessert is either or freshly baked white chocolate chip cookies or fudge brownies with vanilla ice cream. I prefer simple, hearty meals during this season.
HOLIDAY GIFTS: For a hostess gift I like a scented candle. I have the Malin & Goetz Lavender Candle from the Lovely Diaries and will give the new Vetiver scent as a gift. A classic Dyptique in Baies is always appreciated.
For Christmas or Hanukkah, the men in my life receive the Isabelle Wrap. It is unisex and the navy, black, grey and forest green are all masculine colors. For women I like to give the Sebastian V-Neck in camel, black or heather grey because the fit and colors are very classic.
Many of my friends went to Yale and I will give them the Kale sweatshirt by Suburban Riot. It was designed by my incredibly talented friend Janie Marshall and happens to be one of Beyoncé's favorites (can't argue with that!). Another favorite designer of mine is Jessie Johnson of I Am Jessie Johnson Jewelry. Her work is unique and very personal. Each piece is custom made in Los Angeles and reflects her bohemian spirit. For friends or relatives who enjoy travel I will give my luxury travel set which includes a cashmere wrap, cashmere eye mask and cashmere travel pouch. The wrap is so cozy and warm and can be used in place of the airline blankets.
Dylan's Candy Bar makes wonderful holiday gifts for children. I will give my niece and nephews candy with their names printed on the packaging or the Gingerbread Mansion. A nice gift for grownups is the Mercury Glass Tea Light Collection from the Lovely Diaries. Tea lights scattered throughout a home add a festive touch to a New Year's party and can be used year round.
Autumn is my favorite season and one of the best places to experience it is New York. The leaves on the trees in Central Park are beginning to turn and the air is crisp and cool. Here are a few recent photos of the season.

This week on Wynne's World we meet Bela Shehu, the incredibly talented Philadelphia based designer and founder of NINObrand, who shares her favorite things. Bela's exquisite designs are available on ninobrand.com and by appointment in her Rittenhouse Atelelier, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
NINObrand Drew White Denim Pant, Annabelle Black Tank Long Dress, Neel Dropped Crotch Trouser
WARDROBE STAPLES: I live in NINObrand. I wear, love, criticize, correct, admire, enjoy my pieces all day, everyday. The beautiful thing about being a designer is that there is no bad outfit ever. All the pieces and proportions I play with daily are always informative and inspiring to me. As the days get colder though I've been in my Dries oxfords a lot since they go so well with my NINObrand Drew dark denim trousers and my new Heidi Wynne favorite heather grey cashmere Sebastian v-neck. There is a fair amount of head gear in the fall rotation as well.
American Gods, How Yoga Works, Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology
CURRENTLY READING: I'm juggling between three books now depending on the mood. American Gods when I'm at my boyfriend's then How Yoga Works and Objectivist Epistemology when at my place because time alone must not be taken lightly.
Cold Spring Harbor
FALL TRAVEL DESTINATION: I just came back from a mini vacation in Cold Spring Harbor which was so lovely. Visiting my parents in Brussels is always a Fall favorite as well
