Autumn Upstate
The best time of the year in the Hudson Valley has arrived! Autumn brings beautiful fall foliage, pumpkins, cozy fires and of course fisherman knits, fair isle sweaters and cashmere wraps. Once there is a chill in the air, we enjoy sitting by the fire with a good book and our favorite Harney & Sons tea. As soon as our kitchen is finished being renovated we plan to try our neighbor's cinnamon scone recipe.
The leaves are just beginning to turn in this photo we took of our neighbor's cows last week.
I love how the horses lined up together like this.
My chickens Rudy, Trudy & Judy also love to huddle together.
It is pumpkin season at nearby Saunderskill Farms in Accord.
I can't resist a cider donut from Saunderskill, Adams Fair Acre Farms or Davenport Farms.
Ravenwood is a favorite spot for seasonal vegetables, sourdough bread and a snack. It is dog friendly and the owners are so lovely.
Maple Lawn 1843 on Main Street in the village of Stone Ridge is a year round favorite for antiques. Ron Sharkey has the best eye. His beautiful home is featured in Country Life: Homes of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley which is available in our Gift Shop.
A peek inside the barn at Maple Lawn.
We just love how the light looks during autumn and spend as much time as possible outside in nature. We hope that you are enjoying the season too!
